Students from Class 3 to Class 12 across the country will now get the opportunity to visit Bangabhaban, the official residence and office of the President of Bangladesh, to learn about its history, tradition, and national importance.

The President’s Office has formulated the “Policy on Bangabhaban Visit for Students of Educational Institutions, 2026” to facilitate these educational tours. The initiative aims to give young learners a first-hand understanding of one of the country’s most important constitutional institutions, its historical significance, and its role in the state system.

On Wednesday (4 November), the Madrasah Education Board instructed madrasas nationwide about the new policy. The directive, signed by Board Registrar Professor S Towhiduzzaman, was sent to the principals and superintendents of madrasas, requesting them to follow the prescribed process. Similar instructions have also been circulated through the Technical and Madrasa Education Division and other relevant education directorates.

Under the policy, each visiting group will be allotted one hour and 30 minutes inside Bangabhaban. The scheduled itinerary includes:

  • A video presentation on the history and activities of Bangabhaban
  • A tour of the Toshakhana Museum
  • A photo session in front of the main building
  • A visit to the historic Air Raid Shelter
  • A walk through the Deer Park

Students are required to enter Bangabhaban at 10:00 a.m. on the scheduled day, with the tour ending around 11:30 a.m. The schedule may be adjusted for security or special state requirements.

Each educational institution may send a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 40 students, accompanied by three to four teachers or designated representatives. All students must wear the official uniform of their respective institutions. For security reasons, mobile phones, cameras, smartwatches, electronic devices, and bags will not be allowed inside the premises. Vehicles must be parked at a designated location outside, and students will enter on foot.

Institutions interested in arranging visits will need to apply through the relevant education directorate — Primary Education Directorate for Classes 3–5, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education for Classes 6–12, Madrasah Education Directorate for madrasa students, and Technical Education Directorate for technical institutions. Bangabhaban authorities will provide official photographs of the visit as souvenirs.

The initiative is expected to help students develop a stronger sense of patriotism, national values, and awareness of Bangladesh’s constitutional and historical heritage by experiencing Bangabhaban firsthand.
