In the Bandar area of Chattogram city, leaders and activists of the banned Awami
League brought out a procession from which police were attacked, brickbats were
thrown, and a police vehicle was vandalised.

Six police personnel, including Bandar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur
Rahim, were injured. Police arrested 16 people from the scene.

The incident occurred around 3 pm on Friday (6 November) in the Taltola area of
Port Connecting Road under Bandar police station.

According to police and local sources, leaders and activists of the banned Awami
League organised the procession in Taltola on Friday afternoon. After receiving
information, a police team reached the spot and tried to stop it. The processionists
then threw brickbats at the police. At one stage, the windows of a police vehicle
were also smashed. OC Abdur Rahim and five other officers were injured in the attack.

Police later chased the participants and arrested 16 people from the scene. A case
has been filed at Bandar police station under laws related to attacks on police
and the anti-terrorism act.

Bandar police station OC Abdur Rahim said brickbats were thrown at police from the
procession and the windows of a police vehicle were vandalised. Despite the attack,
police pursued the participants and arrested 16 people from the spot. Operations
are continuing to arrest the others who took part in the procession.
