A Dhaka court on Wednesday issued an arrest warrant against film actor Pori Moni in a case filed over the alleged assault, vandalism and intimidation of businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud.
Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman passed the order after Pori Moni failed to appear before the court on the scheduled date for recording testimony.
Although she submitted a time petition seeking an extension, the court rejected it and issued the arrest warrant.
The court also fixed December 23 for the next hearing in the case. Alamgir Hossain, the court’s bench assistant, confirmed the matter to BSS.
On July 6, 2022, Nasir Uddin Mahmud, president of Savar Boat Club, filed the case against three people, including Pori Moni. The other accused are her associate Fatema Tuz Jannat Boni and costume designer Junaid Bogdadi Jimi alias Jim.

The investigation officer, Inspector Md Monir Hossain of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Dhaka district, submitted the investigation report on March 18, 2024.
In the report, the investigating officer found the allegations of assaulting and intimidating the plaintiff against Pori Moni and Jim to be true, while the allegations against Boni were not substantiated.
On January 26, 2025, the court framed charges against Pori Moni and Jim and ordered the trial to proceed.
According to the FIR, the plaintiff alleged that Pori Moni and her associates frequently visited expensive clubs, consumed alcohol and left without paying for their drinks. They used their connections with police officers to intimidate people by filing false cases against them.
It stated that the accused entered Savar Boat Club after midnight on June 9, 2021, used the washroom on the second floor and later sat inside the club to consume alcohol.
According to the plaintiff, as he and his associate Shah Shahidul Alam were leaving the club around 1:15 am, Pori Moni called him and requested him to sit with them for a while. At one stage, she allegedly pressured him to provide a bottle of Blue Label whisky free of charge.
When Nasir Uddin refused, an altercation broke out between them. The FIR alleged that Pori Moni verbally abused him and threw a serving glass and her mobile phone at him, leaving him injured in the head and chest.
