Mohammad Masiur Rahman (also spelled Mashiur Rahman), who compared PM Tarique Rahman’s remarks to a Hadith, has been removed from the post of Executive Director (Secretary) of the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA).

On Tuesday night (3 November), the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard and attached him to the Ministry of Public Administration.

The notification stated that Mohammad Masiur Rahman, who had been serving as DTCA Executive Director on a contractual appointment, was being placed in the Ministry of Public Administration. However, the notification did not mention any reason for removing him from the post.

Meanwhile, Additional Chief Engineer Syed Moinul Hasan has been appointed as the new Executive Director of DTCA.

For context, on 1 November, while speaking at Manik Mia Avenue during the launch of a trial bus service on six routes under the “one route, one company” initiative, this official compared PM Tarique Rahman’s slogan (“Korbo kaj, gorbo desh, sobar age Bangladesh”) to a Hadith.

He said that if he called the slogan a Hadith, people might think he was flattering the PM for his next posting, but that he regarded it as an “eternal message.” The remarks drew criticism after a video circulated online.

In a separate case in mid-October 2026, Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Yusuf Ali (Md Yusuf Ali, additional secretary) was withdrawn and made an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) attached to the Ministry of Public Administration after a video went viral of him attempting to embrace/hug Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at Shah Makhdum Airport in Rajshahi.

On 20 October, while officials were lined up to see the Prime Minister off, Yusuf Ali stepped forward during a handshake and extended an arm as if to hug or put an arm around him. The Prime Minister stepped back and gestured for him to stay in line. The video spread quickly on social media, prompting widespread discussion about a protocol breach. The transfer order (issued the same night) did not explicitly state the reason, but sources linked it to the incident; Yusuf Ali handed over charge and left for Dhaka shortly afterward.

Both cases involve senior officials being quickly reassigned after public controversy involving the Prime Minister, with official notifications avoiding explicit mention of the reasons.
