In Katiadi, Kishoreganj, miscreants have stabbed Shahriar Zaman, the elder son of Major (Retd.) Mohammad Akhteruzzaman Ranjan, a Jamaat associate member and former MP.
The incident took place around 8 pm on Wednesday (4 November) at Gochihata Bazaar in the upazila.
Major Akhteruzzaman was recently released on bail after spending one month in jail.
According to reports, miscreants stabbed Shahriar Zaman around 8 pm. Locals later rescued the injured Shahriar Zaman and took him to Katiadi Upazila Health Complex. After receiving primary treatment there, he is being shifted to Jahurul Islam Medical College Hospital in Bajitpur for better medical care.
Confirming the incident, Major (Retd.) Mohammad Akhteruzzaman Ranjan said that Shahriar Zaman had gone to Gochihata Bazaar on Wednesday evening, where miscreants suddenly stabbed him. Major Akhteruzzaman is currently in Dhaka.
Officer-in-Charge of Katiadi Police Station, Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, said police were sent to the scene after receiving information. It is not yet known who was involved in the attack. Necessary legal action will be taken after investigation if a formal complaint is filed.
