High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, Shri Dinesh Trivedi, attended a vibrant Dandiya and Garba Night organized by the Indian Association of Bangladesh (IABD) in the capital. The event brought together members of the Indian community for colorful performances celebrating India’s rich cultural heritage and festive traditions during the ongoing Navratri season.
Trivedi was seen engaging with participants, speaking at the gathering, and joining dancers holding traditional dandiya sticks. Community members, including women and children dressed in bright traditional attire, performed Garba and Dandiya under festive decorations featuring string lights, colorful drapes, and backdrops displaying the IABD logo and event branding.
The IABD, which represents Indian passport holders and the diaspora living in or visiting Bangladesh, regularly collaborates with the High Commission of India in Dhaka on cultural festivals and welfare initiatives. This gathering forms part of a series of community events during the Hindu festive period, following earlier participation by Trivedi and other mission officials at Durga Puja celebrations in the city.
Trivedi, a former Union Minister for Railways and Health and Family Welfare, assumed charge as High Commissioner earlier this year as a political appointee. The evening underscored efforts to strengthen cultural ties and people-to-people connections between the Indian community and the broader bilateral relationship.
