Controversial Islamic speaker Hafez Qari Zubair Ahmad Tashrif has described Kushtia-3 Jamaat MP Mufti Amir Hamza as “a very simple and straightforward person,” while praying that Allah grants proper understanding to those he says are conspiring against him.

In a Facebook post on Sunday (November 8), Tashrif wrote that he has associated with Amir Hamza for a long time and has always found him to be an extremely simple man. He referred to Hamza as “this oppressed scholar” and prayed for the increase of his honour.

“I have moved around with Mufti Amir Hamza Huzur for a long time. This oppressed Aalem-e-Deen is an extremely simple and straightforward person,” Tashrif wrote. He added: “May Allah grant proper understanding to those who are conspiring against him. May Allah increase the honour of the beloved Mufassir.”

Context of the Ongoing Audio Controversy

Tashrif’s remarks come amid a fresh controversy surrounding Amir Hamza. Prime Minister’s political assistant Md Rashed Khan has claimed that he possesses audio and video clips of a woman-related conversation involving the Jamaat MP. Rashed Khan has shared excerpts of an alleged call recording on social media in which a voice, said to be that of Amir Hamza, expresses regret and seeks forgiveness.

In the circulated audio, the speaker is heard saying that he has no anger or resentment toward those involved, that the incident happened due to “the devil’s temptation” or “the trap of his own desires,” and that he is now remorseful. The speaker also reportedly expressed a desire to personally go and apologise.

Rashed Khan has further claimed that Jamaat Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman and other senior leaders were aware of the matter before Hamza was given the party nomination for Kushtia-3. He has also stated that Amir Hamza’s phone has been switched off and that the MP is not staying at his home.

Neither Amir Hamza nor Jamaat-e-Islami has issued a detailed public response verifying or denying the authenticity of the audio so far. The claims remain unconfirmed by independent forensic examination in the public domain.

Note on Tashrif

Hafez Qari Zubair Ahmad Tashrif himself has previously drawn criticism and controversy. He recently faced strong backlash on social media after reportedly saying that he wanted to kill the guardian of a child who was a victim of sexual harassment at a madrasa “ten times.”

n the past, he has also publicly incited violence against Hindus, ISKCON followers, and those accused of insulting the Prophet, though no legal action has been taken against him by the police in those instances.

Tashrif’s defence of Amir Hamza has added another layer to the ongoing political and social debate surrounding the alleged audio leak.
