The website of Bangladesh Bank, the country’s central bank, is currently inaccessible. Attempts to visit the site display a maintenance notice stating that the service is undergoing scheduled maintenance and will return online shortly.
The message reads: “Our service is currently undergoing scheduled maintenance. We will be back online soon. Thank you for your patience.”
This outage coincides with a high alert issued by the government’s Computer Incident Response Team, BGD e-Gov CERT, over cyberattacks in the country.
Bangladesh Bank spokesperson and Executive Director Arif Hossain Khan stated that the website has been taken offline due to an urgent security-related issue. However, no further details have been provided regarding the nature of the security problem, the exact time the site went down, or when it is expected to be fully restored.
Users attempting to access the site have also encountered a message related to the Windows operating system version, indicating that Windows 10 or a later version is required, while some systems are running Windows 7. It remains unclear whether this message is connected to the security-related outage.
